“Cannot recommend Marcus and his team highly enough. They executed our brief to perfection! Even though we were working from different countries, the process was smooth and the final videos are exactly what we hoped for. Super professional and talented crew.”

Hong Kong 7s are a world-renowned rugby team packed full with talented and skilful players operating at their peak performance. This is very similar to how we like to describe the Glacé team, however, the Hong Kong players can probably bench press slightly more than our camera operators.
As part of their ongoing world tour in preparation for the legendary Hong Kong Sevens tournament, both the men’s and women’s teams were over in the UK for some warm up matches, with their training camp at Loughborough University.
With two rugby pitches at their disposal and an England team waiting in the wings for a warm up match, the scene was set up for some high energy hype videos to get their raucous fans pumped and ready for the upcoming tournament.

The Project Brief
High energy is what was needed to underpin all the content we produced. Both the men’s team and women’s team were training and playing a warm up game at the university and it was up to us to capture and edit content that would show off the dedication, energy and physical prowess of both teams.
We’d need to ensure we captured footage of as many players as possible, showed off a variety of elements of the match and capture drone footage that would show the action playing out from above.
Queue cameras on gimbals, a breathless camera operator and swooping drones. You want energy? We have it in abundance.
This would then result in
- 1x Men’s Team Hype Video
- 1x Women’s Team Hype Video
- 1x Combined Hype Video

How We Approached It
When the action is playing out in front of you and the shoot isn’t staged, there is always an element of the unknown as to what can be filmed. But just because everything can’t be controlled, it doesn’t mean that planning isn’t crucial. Variety was the key to ensuring the video was engaging and therefore a clear shot list and the right equipment to execute it were paramount.
We’re talking aerial footage, candid player interactions and immersive gimbal shots to name just a few.
On the day we fully immersed ourselves in the action. Moving cameras on and off the pitch, intensively capturing the action, whilst also grabbing the opportunity to pull players aside for brief stunted moments when we could, facilitated the variety of footage that we needed.
The End
Result
Electricity! The final videos were absolutely poppin with energy. With the notion of a sizzle reel in mind, the footage smashes together to grab the viewer from the off and keep them engaged with the variety of fast-paced cuts.
The footage was unbelievably cinematic and felt as if it had been lifted straight from a Sky Sports highlight package. The players looked like absolute icons and the sporting action was irresistible.
Alongside a few flare editing points of slow mo, slick transitions and visual effects, we delivered a package of highly engaging videos fit for use across social media channels as well as in the team’s external communications packages.
